Unveiled by legendary entertainer and artist Tony Bennett
A Star-studded cocktail reception to mark the unveiling of the most significant
contemporary sculpture of Abraham Lincoln was held on April 4, 2013 at the New York Historical Society Museum & Library. QUE Productions was honored to have been chosen to document this historic event, paying tribute to the legacy of this American President.
The Sculpture is the work of Artist Frank Porcu, a painter, sculptor, and anatomist who earned a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute and an M.F.A. from the New York Academy of Art. The Sculpture was commissioned by Shawn Thomas, CPA, a collector of extraordinary historical artifacts. Thomas’s goal was to “truly capture the essence of the man… determined and powerful”.
Renowned Lincoln authority and author, Howard Holzer began the introductions and was followed by legendary entertainer and artist Tony Bennett.
“This is really a virtuoso performance by a sculptor… it is distinctive and beautifully crafted,” said Holzer.
Additional guests included singer Judy Collins, designer Louis Nelson, writer Gay Talese, editor Nan Talese, media magnate Sumner Redstone and actor Andre De Shields. Additional highlights included music by The Excelsior Cornet Band and Performances by the Choir from Frank Sinatra School for the arts.
The Sculpture will be on display at the museum for a limited time.
